Narrator (contextual; verse is descriptive rather than direct speech)

Concept: True merit is publicly (cosmically) acknowledged: when a couple performs dharma with faith, even sages and great deities praise them—virtue becomes luminous and universally affirmed.

Application: Treat shared spiritual practice as a joint sādhana—pray together, serve guests/elders, and perform duties with integrity; let praise be secondary to sincerity.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A grand assembly forms around the humble couple: sages with matted locks and waterpots raise their hands in benediction, while Brahmā and Maheśvara with Devī appear as radiant witnesses. The husband and wife stand modestly, heads bowed, as flower garlands and sacred ash drift through the air—an earthly rite crowned by cosmic applause.","primary_figures":["Husband and wife (mahātmānau dampatī)","Sages (munis)","Brahmā","Maheśvara (Śiva)","Devī (Pārvatī)"],"setting":"Temple courtyard or inner hall expanded into a visionary cosmic court; pillars, garlands, ritual platform; celestial canopy implied.","lighting_mood":"divine radiance","color_palette":["pearl white","saffron gold","smoldering ash-grey","forest green","crimson"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: central couple in humble posture; surrounding sages in semicircle; Brahmā and Śiva with Devī above or behind with ornate halos; abundant gold leaf for crowns and aureoles, rich reds/greens, gem-studded ornaments, temple arch framing, flower shower details.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: refined court-like gathering in a temple courtyard; sages praising, the couple modest; Brahmā and Śiva with Devī rendered with delicate lines and soft shading; cool background with lyrical trees, subtle divine glow, elegant composition.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: iconic grouping—Brahmā and Śiva with Devī in prominent register, sages flanking, couple centered; bold outlines, natural pigments, stylized jewelry and crowns, rhythmic symmetry, temple-wall narrative clarity.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: devotional tableau with ornate floral borders; central couple as devotees; divine figures above with lotus motifs; deep blues and gold, intricate garlands, peacocks in border, celebratory yet reverent mood."}

FAQs

The verse identifies them generally as a “dampatī” (a husband-and-wife pair). The specific identities depend on the surrounding narrative in Adhyaya 60.

It highlights Śiva (Maheśvara) as being accompanied by Devī (commonly understood as Pārvatī), emphasizing the paired divine presence in acts of witnessing and praise.

It supports the theme of stuti (praise) and communal reverence—sages and major deities together honoring exemplary beings, reinforcing dharmic and devotional ideals.
