FAQs

Dharaṇī (the Earth personified) is speaking to King Pṛthu Vainya, praising him as a support of dharma.

It implies that a ruler’s command should be grounded in truth (satya), generate virtue/merit (puṇya), and aim at beneficial purpose (artha)—a concise ideal of righteous governance.

Authority is validated when it serves dharma: commands should be truthful, morally elevating, and oriented toward the welfare-oriented aim rather than mere power.
