The Liberation of the Lizard
Godhā-vimukti
bhartā nātho gatirbhartā daivataṃ gurureva ca | tasya vaśyaṃ caredyā tu sā kathaṃ sukhamāpnuyāt || 40 ||
Narada (teaching in a dharma-upadesha context within Uttara-Bhaga)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It frames household harmony as a dharmic discipline: recognizing rightful guidance and living with restraint and alignment (sadācāra) is presented as the basis of sukha (well-being) in worldly life.
Indirectly, it supports bhakti by emphasizing order and reverence within the gṛhastha-āśrama; stable household dharma is treated as a supportive foundation for worship, vows (vrata), and devotional practice.
No specific Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa, Jyotiṣa, or Kalpa) is taught in this verse; it is primarily a dharma/nīti instruction about conduct (ācāra) and relational duty.
