स्वयं च बन्धुभिः सार्द्धं भुञ्जीत प्रयतेन्द्रियः । एवं मासोपवासांश्च व्रती कुर्यात्र्रयोदश ॥ १२ ॥
svayaṃ ca bandhubhiḥ sārddhaṃ bhuñjīta prayatendriyaḥ | evaṃ māsopavāsāṃśca vratī kuryātrrayodaśa || 12 ||
புலன்களை அடக்கி, தானும் தன் உறவினர்களுடன் சேர்ந்து உணவு கொள்ள வேண்டும். இவ்விதமாக விரதம் மேற்கொள்வோர் பதிமூன்று மாத உபவாச விரதங்களையும் நிறைவேற்ற வேண்டும்.
