பல கதாப் பிரசங்கங்கள் பின்னப்பட்டதால், அவை மனிதருக்கு சத்கதியை அளிப்பவையாகின்றன. அந்த நூலின் முன்னிருப்புப் பகுதியில் புராணத்தின் பழமையான உபக்ரமம் (முன்னுரை அமைப்பு) கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது.

It states that Purāṇic storytelling is not mere entertainment: the many interconnected narratives function as a spiritual vehicle that leads people toward sadgati (an auspicious, uplifted end), because the Purāṇa is intentionally structured to guide conduct and understanding.
