देव्युवाच एवमेतद् बली शुम्भो निशुम्भश्चातिवीर्यवान् ।
किं करोमि प्रतिज्ञा मे यदनालोचिता पुरा ॥
devyuvāca evam etad balī śumbho niśumbhaś cātivīryavān | kiṃ karomi pratijñā me yadanālocitā purā ||
தேவி கூறினாள்—ஆம், அப்படியே; சும்பன் வலிமையான், நிசும்பன் மிகுந்த பராக்கிரமசாலி. நான் என்ன செய்ய முடியும்? முன்பு நான் சிந்திக்காமல் ஒரு விரத-சங்கல்பம் செய்து விட்டேன்.
