Adhyaya 77 — Sanjna’s Withdrawal from Surya: The Birth of Yama and Yamuna, and the Emergence of Chhaya
sā cāha tanayā tvaṣṭur ahaṃ saṃjñā vibhāvaso / patnī tava tvayāpatyāny etāni janitāni me
Truth-telling and rightful identity restore order in relationships; the verse frames legitimacy (patnī, apatyāni) as grounded in dharma and truthful disclosure.
Manvantara and Vaṃśānucarita (dynastic/genealogical narration): it supports the Vaivasvata cycle by clarifying familial links around Vivasvat.
Saṃjñā (‘cognition/recognition’) symbolizes right perception: when recognition arises, the cosmic household (order of progeny and lineage) becomes intelligible and stable.
