कथं स संस्थितो देवः कूर्मरूपी जनार्दनः ।
शुभाशुभं मनुष्याणां व्यज्यते च ततः कथम् ।
यथामुखं यथापादन्तस्य तद्ब्रूह्यशेषतः ॥
kathaṃ sa saṃsthito devaḥ kūrmarūpī janārdanaḥ | śubhāśubhaṃ manuṣyāṇāṃ vyajyate ca tataḥ katham | yathāmukhaṃ yathāpādāntasya tad brūhyaśeṣataḥ ||
அந்த பகவான் ஜனார்தனன் ஆமை (கூர்ம) வடிவில் எவ்வாறு நிறுவப்பட்டு நிலைத்திருக்கிறார்? அதிலிருந்து மனிதர்களுக்கான சுபமும் அசுபமும் ஆகிய பலன்கள் எவ்வாறு குறிக்கப்படுகின்றன? அவருடைய முகத் திசையின்படியும், பாதங்களின் விரிவின்படியும் அனைத்தையும் முழுமையாக விளக்குக।
