रुद्रस्त्वं देव ! नाम्नासि मा रोदीर्धैर्यमावह ।
एवमुक्तस्ततः सो ’थ सप्तकृत्वो रुरोद ह ॥
rudras tvaṁ deva! nāmnāsi mā rodīr dhairyam āvaha / evam uktas tataḥ so 'tha saptakṛtvo ruroda ha
‘ஓ தேவா, உன் பெயர் ருத்ரன்; அழாதே, தைரியமாக இரு.’ என்று கூறப்பட்டபோதும் அவன் ஏழு முறை அழுதான்।
