स सर्वान् खादितुं सृष्टो ब्रह्मणा तमसो निधिः ।
दंष्ट्राकरालमत्यर्थं विवृतास्यं सुभैरवम् ॥
sa sarvān khādituṃ sṛṣṭo brahmaṇā tamaso nidhiḥ | daṃṣṭrākarālamatyarthaṃ vivṛtāsyaṃ subhairavam ||
அவன் அனைத்தையும் விழுங்கும்படியாகப் பிரம்மனால் படைக்கப்பட்டவன்—தமஸ் எனும் இருளின் களஞ்சியம்போல். பயங்கரக் கோரைப் பற்களுடன், வாயை அகலத் திறந்து, மிகுந்த அச்சமூட்டும் கொடுமையுடன் இருந்தான்.
