Adhyaya 48 — The Emanation of Beings from Brahma: Night, Day, Twilight, and the Orders of Creation
उच्चावचानि भूतानि गात्रेभ्यस्तस्य जज्ञिरे ।
सृष्ट्वा चतुष्टयं पूर्वं देवासुरपितॄन् प्रजाः ॥
uccāvacāni bhūtāni gātrebhyas tasya jajñire | sṛṣṭvā catuṣṭayaṃ pūrvaṃ devāsura-pitṝn prajāḥ ||
அவருடைய அங்கங்களிலிருந்து உயர்ந்ததும் தாழ்ந்ததும் எனப் பலவகை உயிர்கள் பிறந்தன. முதலில் தேவர்கள், அசுரர்கள், பித்ருக்கள், பிரஜைகள் என்ற நான்கு வகையையும் படைத்து, பின்னர் மேலும் (சிருஷ்டியை) தொடர்ந்தார்.
