Adhyaya 45 — Jaimini’s Cosmological Questions and the Opening of Markandeya’s Account of Primary Creation
प्रधानं कारणं यत्तदव्यक्ताख्यं महर्षयः ।
यदाहुः प्रकृतिं सूक्ष्मां नित्यां सदसदात्मिकाम् ॥
pradhānaṃ kāraṇaṃ yat tad avyakta-ākhyaṃ maharṣayaḥ |
yad āhuḥ prakṛtiṃ sūkṣmāṃ nityāṃ sad-asad-ātmikām ||
‘பிரதானம்’ எனப்படும் காரணத் தத்துவம், ‘அவ்யக்தம்’ என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது; மகரிஷிகள் அதை ‘பிரக்ருதி’ என வர்ணிக்கின்றனர்—அது சூட்சுமம், நித்தியம், சத்-அசத் இரண்டின் இயல்புமுடையது.

The world’s diversity is traced to a subtle causal matrix (Prakṛti), encouraging the seeker to look beyond surface phenomena to underlying causes—supporting patience, non-reactivity, and deeper inquiry.
