अग्रं चतुर्गुणं प्राहुर्हन्तकारं द्विजोत्तमाः ।
भोजनं हन्तकारं वा अग्रं भिक्षामथापि वा ॥
agraṃ caturguṇaṃ prāhur hantakāraṃ dvijottamāḥ / bhojanaṃ hantakāraṃ vā agraṃ bhikṣām athāpi vā
இருபிறப்பில் சிறந்தோர் ‘முதல் பங்கு’ நான்கு வகையானது; அதுவே ‘ஹந்தகார’ம் எனக் கூறுகின்றனர். அல்லது உணவையே ‘ஹந்தகார’ம் எனவும், அதே பெயரால் முதல் பங்கு அல்லது பிச்சையையும் அழைக்கின்றனர்.
