भूमौ स्वपद्भिर्नात्यन्तं क्लेशमाप्नोति बान्धवैः ।
दानं ददद्भिश्च तथा जन्तुराप्याय्यते मृतः ॥
bhūmau svapadbhirnātyantaṃ kleśamāpnoti bāndhavaiḥ /
dānaṃ dadadbhiśca tathā janturāpyāyyate mṛtaḥ
இந்தப் பூமியில் தன் கால்களால் நடக்கும் அந்த (பிரேத) ஜீவன், உறவினர்களால் மிகுந்த துன்பம் அடைவதில்லை; மேலும் அவர்கள் அவன் பெயரில் தானம் அளிக்கும்போது, இறந்த ஜீவனும் போஷிக்கப்பட்டு நிலைபெறுகிறது।
