शमीवृक्षस्थायुधप्रकाशनम् / Revelation and Identification of the Weapons on the Śamī Tree
(मत्ता इव महानागा युक्तध्वजपताकिन: । नीतिमन्तो महेष्वासा सर्वास्त्रिकृतनि श्चया: ।।

matta iva mahānāgā yuktadhvajapatākinaḥ |
nītimanto maheṣvāsā sarvāstrikṛtaniścayāḥ ||
durjayāḥ sarvasainyānāṃ devair api savāsavaiḥ |
patākinaś ca mātaṅgāḥ sadhvajāś ca mahārathāḥ ||
viprakīrṇāḥ kṛtodyogā vājināś citrabhūṣitāḥ |
tān jetuṃ samare śūrān durbuddhir aham āgataḥ ||
dṛṣṭvaiva hi kurūn etān vyūḍhānīkān prahāriṇaḥ |
hṛṣitāni ca romāṇi kaśmalaṃ cāgataṃ mama ||
உத்தரன் கூறினான்—இந்தக் கௌரவர் வீரர்கள் மதத்தால் உன்மத்தமான பெருயானை அரசர்களைப் போலத் தோன்றுகின்றனர். அனைவரும் கொடிகளும் பதாகைகளும் தாங்கியவர்கள்; நெறியறிவில் தேர்ந்தவர்கள்; பெருவில்லாளர்கள்; எல்லா ஆயுதவித்தையிலும் உறுதியான நிச்சய அறிவுடையவர்கள். அவர்களை வெல்வது முழுச் சேனைகளுக்கே அல்ல, இந்திரனை முன்னிட்டு நிற்கும் தேவர்களுக்குக் கூட மிகக் கடினம். அவர்களின் யானைகளிலும் பதாகைகள் பறக்கின்றன; பெரும் ரதங்கள் கொடிகளால் ஒளிர்கின்றன; பலவகை அணிகலன்களால் அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்ட குதிரைகள் நாலாபுறமும் பரவி வெற்றிக்காகத் துடிப்பதாகத் தெரிகின்றன. இப்படிப்பட்ட சூர கௌரவர்களைப் போரில் வெல்ல நான்—அறிவிலி சிறுவன்—இங்கே எப்படித் தள்ளப்பட்டேன்! இந்தக் குருக்கள் படைவியூகம் அமைத்து தாக்கத் தயாராய் நிற்பதைப் பார்த்தவுடனே என் உடலில் ரோமாஞ்சம் எழுந்தது; என் உள்ளத்தில் கஷ்மலம்—மயக்கம் போன்ற அச்சமும் குழப்பமும்—வந்தடைந்தது.
