Dhṛtarāṣṭra and Sañjaya on Arjuna’s Indraloka report and the political consequences
सर्वाप्सर:सु मुख्यासु प्रनृत्तासु कुरूद्गवह | त्वं किलानिमिष: पार्थ मामेकां तत्र दृष्टवान्
sarvāpsaraḥsu mukhyāsu pranṛttāsu kurūdgvaha | tvaṃ kilānimiṣaḥ pārtha mām ekāṃ tatra dṛṣṭavān |
ஓ குருகுலச் சிறந்தவனே! எல்லா அப்சரஸ்களிலும் முதன்மையோர் நடனமாடிக் கொண்டிருக்க, நீ, ஓ பார்த்தா, இமைக்காமல் அங்கே என்னை ஒருத்தியையே நோக்கினாய்.
अर्जुन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical tension between sensory allure and disciplined attention: amid captivating celestial dancers, the focus of one’s gaze becomes a marker of intention, restraint, and the power of attraction.
Arjuna addresses a Kuru noble, recalling a scene where the foremost Apsarases were performing; he remarks that Pārtha (Arjuna) watched him alone, unblinking, emphasizing exclusive attention amid a tempting spectacle.
