तथा करिष्ये त्वत्प्रीत्येत्येवमुक्त्वा सुयोधनम्,“तुमपर प्रेम होनेके कारण मैं वैसा ही करूँगा', दुर्योधनसे ऐसा कहकर विप्रवर दुर्वासा जैसे आये थे, वैसे ही चले गये। उस समय दुर्योधनने अपने-आपको कृतार्थ माना
tathā kariṣye tvat-prītyety evam uktvā suyodhanam, durvāsā vipra-varaḥ yathā āgataḥ tathāiva jagāma; tadā duryodhanaḥ svayam ātmānaṃ kṛtārthaṃ mene.
வைசம்பாயனர் கூறினார்— “உன் மீது உள்ள அன்பினால் நான் அப்படியே செய்வேன்.” என்று சுயோதனனிடம் சொல்லி, பிராமணச் சிறந்தவர் துர்வாசர் வந்தபடியே சென்றார். அச்சமயம் துரியோதனன் தன்னைத் தானே கൃതார்த்தன் என எண்ணினான்—தன் நோக்கம் நிறைவேறியது என்றும், முனிவரின் அருளால் பெரும் ஆதாயம் கிடைத்தது என்றும் உறுதிபட்டான்.
