उत्तङ्कोपाख्यानप्रारम्भः — Uttanka’s Tapas, Viṣṇu-stuti, and the Dhundhumāra Prophecy

तथा कथां शुभां श्रुत्वा मार्कण्डेयस्यथ धीमत: । विस्मिता: समपद्यन्त पुराणस्य निवेदनात्,बुद्धिमान् मार्कण्डेयजीके मुखसे वह मंगलमयी कथा सुनकर पुराणोक्त बातोंका ज्ञान हो जानेसे सब लोग बड़े ही विस्मित और प्रसन्न हुए
tathā kathāṃ śubhāṃ śrutvā mārkaṇḍeyasya tha dhīmataḥ | vismitāḥ samapadyanta purāṇasya nivedanāt ||
ஞானமுடைய மார்கண்டேய முனிவரின் வாய்மொழியாக அந்த மங்களகரமான கதையை கேட்டபின், புராணங்களில் கூறப்பட்ட பழம்பெரும் வரலாற்றை உணர்ந்ததால் அங்கிருந்த அனைவரும் வியப்பில் ஆழ்ந்து, மிகுந்த மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்தனர்.
