च्यवन-यज्ञे अश्विनोः सोमग्रहण-विवादः

अगृलह्लाच्च्यवन: सोममश्रिनोर्देवयोस्तदा । तमिन्द्रो वारयामास गृह्नानं स तयोग्रहम्,महर्षि च्यवनने उस समय दोनों अश्विनीकुमारों-को देनेके लिये सोमरसका भाग हाथमें लिया। उन दोनोंके लिये सोमका भाग ग्रहण करते समय इन्द्रने मुनिको मना किया
agṛhṇāc cyavanaḥ somaṁ aśvinoḥ devayoḥ tadā | tam indro vārayām āsa gṛhṇānaṁ sa tayor graham ||
அந்நேரத்தில் மகரிஷி ச்யவனர், இரு அஸ்வினிக் குமாரர்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கச் சோமரஸத்தின் நியதிப் பங்கைக் கையில் எடுத்தார். அவர்களுக்காக அந்தப் பங்கை எடுக்கும்போதே, அவர்கள் சோமப் பங்கிற்கு உரியவர்கள் அல்ல என்று எதிர்த்து, இந்திரன் முனிவரைத் தடுக்க முயன்றான்; அதனால் மோதல் எழுந்தது.
