स्वर्याते5हं पितरि तं स्वराज्ये संन्यवेशयम् । विचित्रवीर्य राजानं भृत्यो भूत्वा ह्धश्चर:,'पिताके स्वर्गवासी हो जानेपर मैंने अपने राज्यपर राजा विचित्रवीर्यको ही बिठाया और स्वयं उनका सेवक होकर राज्यसिंहासनसे नीचे खड़ा रहा
svaryāte'haṃ pitari taṃ svarājye saṃnyaveśayam | vicitravīrya-rājānaṃ bhṛtyo bhūtvā hṛdiścaraḥ ||
என் தந்தை ஸ்வர்க்கம் சென்றபின், என் அரசிலேயே விசித்ரவீர்யனை அரசனாக அமர்த்தினேன். பின்னர் அவனுடைய பணியாளனாகி, அரசசிங்காசனத்தின் கீழே நின்று, தர்மத்தின் கட்டளையின்படி மட்டுமே நடந்தேன்.
