नमस्कृत्वा च गुरवे व्यासाय विदितात्मने । तपोयुक्ताय दान्ताय वन्द्याय परमर्षये

namaskṛtvā ca gurave vyāsāya viditātmane | tapoyuktāya dāntāya vandyāya paramarṣaye ||

பல உயிர்களின் தோற்றத்திற்கான ஆதாரம் ஒரே புருஷனில் உள்ளது என்று எவ்வாறு கூறப்படுகிறது என்பதை விளக்குவதற்காக, ஆத்மஞானி, தவநிஷ்டன், இந்திரியநிக்ரஹம் உடைய, வணங்கத்தக்க பரமரிஷி குரு வியாசருக்கு வணங்கி, உங்கள்முன் அனைத்திலும் சிறந்த விஶ்வாத்ம புருஷனின் தத்துவத்தை நான் உரைப்பேன்।
