अध्याय २९७ — श्रेयः, धृति, दान-नियमाः
Welfare, Steadfastness, and Norms of Giving
न चैशि: पुण्यकर्माणो युज्यन्ते चाभिसंधिजै: । एवंविधैश्व बहुभिरपरै: प्राकृतेरपि,पुण्यकर्म करनेवाले मनुष्य इस तरहके उपायोंसे प्राण नहीं देते तथा ऐसे-ऐसे दूसरे अधम उपायोंसे भी उनकी मृत्यु नहीं होती
na caiśiḥ puṇyakarmāṇo yujyante cābhisaṃdhijaiḥ | evaṃvidhaiś ca bahubhir aparaiḥ prākṛter api ||
பராசரர் கூறினார்—புண்ணியச் செயல்களில் நிலைத்தவர்கள் கபடம் கலந்த, திட்டமிட்டு அமைக்கப்பட்ட சூழ்ச்சிகளால் உயிர் நீங்குவதில்லை; மேலும் உலகியலான இயல்பிலிருந்து எழும் இத்தகைய பல தாழ்ந்த வழிகளாலும் அவர்கள் அழிவதில்லை।
