एतैरविंवर्धते तेज: पाप्मानमुपहन्ति च । सिध्यन्ति चास्य संकल्पा विज्ञानं च प्रवर्तते
etair abhivardhate tejaḥ pāpmānam upahanti ca | sidhyanti cāsya saṅkalpā vijñānaṃ ca pravartate ||
பீஷ்மர் கூறினார்—இவற்றால் உள்ளொளி பெருகும்; பாவம் அழியும். சாதகனின் உறுதிகள் நிறைவேறத் தொடங்கும்; இதயத்தில் விஞ்ஞானம் முன்னேறும்.
भीष्म उवाच
Bhīṣma teaches that sustained yogic disciplines (ethical and purificatory practices) increase inner strength (tejas), remove moral impurity (pāpmān), make one’s vows/resolves effective (saṅkalpa-siddhi), and awaken mature discernment (vijñāna).
In the Śānti Parva’s instruction section, Bhīṣma continues advising Yudhiṣṭhira on the means of inner peace and dharmic living; here he summarizes the fruits that arise in a practitioner when the prescribed disciplines are followed.
