ब्राह्मणस्य पूर्वतरा वृत्तिः — The Earlier Ideal Conduct of a Brahmana

न चेदमचलं स्थानमनन्तं वापि कस्यचित् । त्वं तु बालिशया बुद्धया ममेदमिति मन््यसे
na cedam acalaṁ sthānam anantaṁ vāpi kasyacit | tvaṁ tu bāliśayā buddhyā mamedam iti manyase ||
இந்த பதவி யாருக்கும் அசையாததல்ல; யாருக்கும் முடிவில்லாத காலம் நிலைப்பதுமல்ல. ஆயினும் நீ குழந்தைபோன்ற மயக்கப்பட்ட புத்தியால் ‘இது எனது’ என்று எண்ணுகிறாய். இந்திரப் பதவியும் நிலையானதாய் ஒருபோதும் நிரூபிக்கப்படவில்லை—பலர் அதை அனுபவித்து மறைந்தனர். ஆகவே அதிகாரத்தை சொத்தெனப் பற்றிக்கொள்ளாதே; அதன் நிலையின்மையை உணர்ந்து தர்மத்துடனும் பணிவுடனும் நட.
