स एव हाुस्तमयते स सम विद्योतते दिश:
sa eva hāstamayate sa samaṁ vidyotate diśaḥ | sa eva yathāsamayaṁ ālasyaṁ chittvā samantād diśaḥ prakāśayati, sa evāstam eti sa eva varṣati | brahman! taṁ baliṁ ahaṁ mṛgayamāṇo ’pi na paśyāmi | tvaṁ me rājānaṁ balikaṁ ācakṣva ||
பீஷ்மர் கூறினார்—அவனே அஸ்தமிக்கிறான்; அவனே சமமாக ஒளிர்ந்து திசைகளைப் பிரகாசப்படுத்துகிறான். அவனே காலத்திற்கேற்ப மழையையும் பொழிகிறான். ஓ பிராமணரே! அந்த பலியை நான் தேடியும் காணவில்லை; அரசன் பலியின் இருப்பிடத்தை எனக்குச் சொல்லுங்கள்.
