लुब्ध: क्रूरस्त्यक्तरर्मा निकृति: शठ एव च | क्षुद्र पापसमाचार: सर्वशड्की तथालस:
lubdhaḥ krūraḥ tyaktadharmo nikṛtiḥ śaṭha eva ca | kṣudraḥ pāpasamācāraḥ sarvaśaṅkī tathālasaḥ ||
பீஷ்மர் கூறினார்—பேராசையும் கொடுமையும் உடையவன், தர்மத்தைத் துறந்தவன், வஞ்சகமும் துரோகமும் கொண்டவன்; சிறுமனத்தன், பாவச் செயல்களில் பழகியவன், எல்லாரையும் சந்தேகிப்பவன், சோம்பேறி—இத்தகையவனுடன் உடன்படிக்கை செய்யக் கூடாது. பிறரின் குறைகளை எப்போதும் தேடிக்கொண்டிருப்பவனும் உடன்படிக்கைக்கு உரியவன் அல்ல. இனி உடன்படிக்கைக்கு உரியவர்களை நான் கூறுகிறேன்—கேள்.
