प्रहरिष्यन् प्रियं ब्रूयात् प्रहत्यैव प्रियोत्तरम् । असिनापि शिरश्छित्त्वा शोचेत च रुदेत च
praharīṣyan priyaṁ brūyāt prahatyaiva priyottaram | asināpi śiraś chittvā śocet ca rudet ca |
பீஷ்மர் போதித்தார்—அடி கொடுக்கத் தயாராக இருந்தாலும் இனிய சொற்களையே பேச வேண்டும்; அடித்த பின்பும் இனிய மொழியிலேயே பதில் சொல்ல வேண்டும். வாளால் பகைவனின் தலையை வெட்டினாலும், அந்த உயிர்க்காக வருந்தி அழ வேண்டும்.
