आपद्धर्मे राज्ञः नीतिः — Bharadvāja’s Counsel on Crisis-Statecraft (Śānti Parva 138)
दीर्घसूत्रस्तु मन्दात्मा हीनबुद्धिरचेतन: । मरणं प्राप्तवान् मूढो यथैवोपहतेन्द्रियः
dīrghasūtrastu mandātmā hīnabuddhiracetanaḥ | maraṇaṃ prāptavān mūḍho yathaivopahatendriyaḥ ||
ஆனால் காலம் தாழ்த்தும் மனிதன்—மந்தமான உள்ளத்துடன், அறிவு குறைந்தவனாக, உணர்வற்ற மூடனாக—மரணத்தை அடைகிறான்; புலன்கள் தாக்கப்பட்டவன் புலன்களின் துணை இன்றிப் பாழ்படுவது போலவே।
