आक्रीडभूमि: सा राजंस्तासामप्सरसां शुभा

वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse primarily serves a descriptive and narrative function: it highlights the allure and refinement of celestial spaces, reminding the listener that extraordinary beauty and pleasure exist in the cosmic order, yet are presented as part of a larger moral-historical narration rather than as an end in themselves.
Vaiśampāyana continues his account to the King (Janamejaya), identifying a particular splendid location as the recreation-ground of the Apsarases, setting a vivid scene within the broader events of the Śalya Parva.
