“अतः तुम इस निशीथकालमें कर्णके साथ द्वैरथ युद्ध करो और महारथी सात्यकि तुम्हारे पृष्ठरक्षक होंगे ।। जहि कर्ण रणे शूरं सात्वतेन सहायवान् । यथेन्द्रस्तारकं पूर्व स्कन्देन सह जध्निवान्
jahi karṇaṃ raṇe śūraṃ sātvatena sahāyavān | yathendras tārakaṃ pūrvaṃ skandena saha jaghnivān ||
ஆகையால் இந்த நிசீதக் காலத்தில் கர்ணனுடன் ரத-இரட்டைப் போரில் ஈடுபடு; மகாரதன் சாத்தியகி உன் பின்புறக் காவலனாக இருப்பான். சாத்த்வதன் (சாத்தியகி) துணையுடன் போரில் வீரன் கர்ணனை வதை—முன்னொரு காலத்தில் இந்திரன் ஸ்கந்தனுடன் சேர்ந்து தாரகனை வதைத்ததுபோல்.
