नारायणास्त्र-शमनं द्रौणि-प्रहारश्च
Pacification of the Nārāyaṇāstra and Drauni’s Renewed Assault
भरतश्रेष्ठ] उस समरांगणमें मोहवश पिताने पुत्रका वध कर डाला और पुत्रने पिताका। मित्रने मित्रके प्राण ले लिये। मामाने भानजेको मार डाला और भानजेने मामाको ।।
sanjaya uvāca | sve svān pare parāṁś cāpi nijaghnur itaretaram | nirmaryādam abhūd yuddhaṁ rātri bhīru-bhayānakam ||
சஞ்சயன் கூறினான்—பரதசிறந்தவனே! அந்த இரவுப் போரில் மயக்கத்தால் தந்தை மகனை வதைத்தான்; மகனும் தந்தையை. நண்பன் நண்பனின் உயிரை எடுத்தான். மாமன் மருமகனை கொன்றான்; மருமகனும் மாமனை. தம் தரப்பின் வீரர்கள் தம் படையினர்மேலேயே, எதிர்தரப்பினரும் தம் வீரர்கள்மேலேயே ஒருவரையொருவர் கொல்லும் தாக்குதல்களைச் செய்தனர். இவ்வாறு அந்த இரவுப் போர் எல்லைமீறி, அஞ்சுபவர்களுக்கே மிகப் பயங்கரமாகியது.
