Bhīṣma–Dhanaṃjaya Duel and the Opening Clash
अन्योन्यं प्रत्यभाषन्त तयोर्दृष्टवा पराक्रमम् । न शक््योौ युधि संरब्धौ जेतुमेती कथठ्चन
anyonyam pratyabhāṣanta tayor dṛṣṭvā parākramam | na śakyo yudhi saṃrabdhau jetum etī kathañcana ||
சஞ்சயன் கூறினான்—அந்த இருவரின் பராக்கிரமத்தைப் பார்த்து அவர்கள் ஒருவருக்கொருவர் கூறினர்: “போரில் இவ்விருவரும் முழுமையாக எழுச்சியடைந்தால், எவராலும் எவ்விதத்திலும் இவர்களை வெல்ல இயலாது.” இந்தச் சொல் போரின் நெறி-கனத்தைக் காட்டுகிறது—கோபமும் கடமையும் தீப்பற்றச் செய்த வீர வல்லமை சாதாரண கட்டுப்பாட்டை ஏற்காது; வெற்றியையும் உறுதியற்றதாக்குகிறது.
