भीष्मधनंजयद्वैरथम्
Bhīṣma–Dhanaṃjaya Duel and the Opening Clash
अर्जुनस्तु नरव्याप्रो दृष्टवा भीष्म॑ं महारथम् | वार्ष्णेयमब्रवीत् क्रुद्धो याहि यत्र पितामह:,तब नरश्रेष्ठ अर्जुनने महारथी भीष्मको देखकर भगवान् श्रीकृष्णसे कुपित होकर कहा -- वार्ष्णेय! जहाँ पितामह भीष्म हैं, वहाँ चलिये। अन्यथा ये भीष्म अत्यन्त क्रोधमें भरकर निश्चय ही मेरी सारी सेनाका विनाश कर डालेंगे; क्योंकि इस समय ये दुर्योधनके हितमें तत्पर हैं
sañjaya uvāca | arjunas tu naravyāghro dṛṣṭvā bhīṣmaṁ mahāratham | vārṣṇeyam abravīt kruddho yāhi yatra pitāmahaḥ ||
மனிதர்களில் புலியான அர்ஜுனன், மகாரதன் பீஷ்மரைப் பார்த்து கோபத்துடன் வ்ருஷ்ணிவம்சத்துக் கிருஷ்ணனை நோக்கி—“பிதாமகர் பீஷ்மர் நிற்கும் இடத்திற்கே செலுத்து” என்றான்.
