उत्पातवर्णनम् (Utpāta-varṇanam) — Catalogue of Portents
त्वं हि धर्मप्रवृत्तिश्न यश: कीर्तिश्व भारती । कुरूणां पाण्डवानां च मान्यश्वलापि पितामह:,आप ही हम भरतवंशियोंकी धर्मप्रवृत्ति, यश तथा कीर्तिके हेतु हैं। आप कौरवों और पाण्डवों--दोनोंके माननीय पितामह हैं
tvaṃ hi dharmapravṛttiś ca yaśaḥ kīrtiś ca bhāratī | kurūṇāṃ pāṇḍavānāṃ ca mānyaś cāsi pitāmahaḥ ||
துருதராஷ்டிரன் கூறினான்—பாரத குலத்தின் தர்மநடத்தைக்கும் புகழுக்கும் கீர்த்திக்கும் ஆதாரம் நீரே. கௌரவர்களுக்கும் பாண்டவர்களுக்கும் சமமாக வணங்கத்தக்க பிதாமகர் நீரே.
