The Duty to Fulfill Promised Gifts
वानर उवाच सदा चाहं फलाहारो ब्राह्मणानां प्लवड्भम: । तस्मान्न ब्राह्मणस्वं तु हर्तव्यं विदुषा सदा । सम॑ विवादो मोक्तव्यो दातव्यं स प्रतिश्रुतम्
vānara uvāca | sadā cāhaṃ phalāhāro brāhmaṇānāṃ plavaṅgamaḥ | tasmān na brāhmaṇasvaṃ tu hartavyaṃ viduṣā sadā | samaṃ vivādo moktavyo dātavyaṃ sa pratiśrutam ||
குரங்கு கூறியது—நான் எப்போதும் பிராமணர்களின் பழங்களைத் திருடித் தின்றேன்; அந்தப் பாவத்தினாலேயே இவ்வாறு குரங்கானேன். ஆகவே அறிவுடையவன் ஒருபோதும் பிராமணரின் செல்வத்தை அபகரிக்கக் கூடாது. பிராமணர்களுடன் சண்டையில் இறங்கக் கூடாது; அவர்களுக்கு அளித்த வாக்குறுதியை நிச்சயமாக நிறைவேற்ற வேண்டும்.
