Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa
Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
रौद्रे लोहितमित्याहुलोहितात् कनकं स्मृतम् । तन्मैत्रमिति विज्ञेयं धूमाच्च वसव: स्मृता:
raudre lohitam ity āhur lohitāt kanakaṃ smṛtam | tan maitram iti vijñeyaṃ dhūmāc ca vasavaḥ smṛtāḥ ||
வசிஷ்டர் கூறினார்—ருத்ர அம்சத்தில் அது ‘லோஹித’ (சிவப்பு) என அழைக்கப்படுகிறது; அந்த லோஹிதத்திலிருந்து ‘கனகம்’ (தங்கம்) தோன்றும் என்று கூறப்படுகிறது. அந்த கனகம் ‘மைத்ர’—மித்ர தத்துவத்துக்குரியது—என்று அறிய வேண்டும்; புகையிலிருந்து வசுக்கள் தோன்றினர் என நினைவுகூரப்படுகிறது.
