Cyavana Explains His Tests; Kuśika Seeks Brāhmaṇya for His Line (च्यवन–कुशिक संवादः)
निश्चित्य मनसा सर्व गुणदोषबलाबलम् | दग्धुकाम: कुलं सर्व कुशिकानां तपोधन:
niścitya manasā sarva-guṇa-doṣa-balābalam | dagdhukāmaḥ kulaṃ sarvaṃ kuśikānāṃ tapodhanaḥ |
பீஷ்மர் கூறினார்—முன்னமே ப்ருகுபுத்திரன் ச்யவனன், குஷிக வம்சக் கன்னியுடன் திருமணத் தொடர்பு ஏற்பட்டால் தன் வம்சத்தில் க்ஷத்திரியத்துவத்திற்கு ஒரு பெரும் களங்கம் உண்டாகும் என்பதை அறிந்திருந்தான். ஆகவே அந்தத் தபோதன முனிவருள் சிறந்தவன் மனத்திலேயே எல்லா நன்மை-தீமைகளையும், வலிமை-பலவீனங்களையும் ஆராய்ந்து உறுதி செய்து, குஷிகர்களின் முழுக் குலத்தையும் சாம்பலாக்கும் எண்ணத்துடன் குஷிக அரசனை அணுகினான்.
