On Those Worthy of Honor and Salutation
ब्राह्म॒ण्यं यो न जानीते धनं लब्ध्वेव दुर्लभम् । वह पापियोंसे भी बढ़कर अत्यन्त पापी और उनमें भी अधम ही है, जो दुर्लभ धनकी भाँति ब्राह्मणत्वको पाकर भी उसके महत्त्वको नहीं समझता है
brāhmaṇyaṁ yo na jānīte dhanaṁ labdhveva durlabham | sa pāpīyo 'pi pāpīyān atyanta-pāpī ca teṣv api adhamaḥ ||
மாதங்கன் கூறினான்—அரிய செல்வம் கிடைத்ததுபோல் பிராமணத்துவம் பெற்றும் அதன் உண்மையான மதிப்பை அறியாதவன், பாவிகளைக் காட்டிலும் மிகப் பாவி; அவர்களிலும் கீழ்மையானவன். அரிதாகக் கிடைத்த ஆன்மிகச் சிறப்புரிமையைப் பெற்றும் அதன் பொருளை உணராதது பெரும் நெறிவீழ்ச்சி.
