नमां मनुष्या: पश्यन्ति न मां पश्यन्ति देवता: । पापेनापिहित: पाप: पापमेवाभिजायते
na māṁ manuṣyāḥ paśyanti na māṁ paśyanti devatāḥ | pāpenāpihitaḥ pāpaḥ pāpam evābhijāyate ||
பீஷ்மர் கூறினார்— “நான் பாவம் செய்யும் போது என்னை மனிதரும் காணார்; தேவரும் காணார்” என்று எண்ணி, பாவத்தால் மூடப்பட்ட பாவாத்மன் மீண்டும் மீண்டும் பாவமே செய்து, இறுதியில் பாவயோனிகளிலேயே பிறக்கிறான்.
