।। विपरीतस्तु धर्मात्मा रूपवानभिजायते

Transliteration

viparītastu dharmātmā rūpavān abhijāyate | devi! hiṁsāpremī manuṣyaḥ svapāpakarmakāraṇād anyeṣāṁ vadhyaḥ sarvaprāṇinām apriyaś cālpāyuś ca bhavati ||

Translation

மகேஸ்வரர் கூறினார்—வன்முறைக்கு எதிரான இயல்புடையவன் தர்மாத்மாவாகவும் அழகுடையவனாகவும் பிறக்கிறான். தேவி! வன்முறையில் இன்புறும் மனிதன் தன் பாவச் செயல்களின் காரணமாக பிறரால் கொல்லத்தக்கவனாகிறான்; எல்லா உயிர்களுக்கும் அருவருப்பானவனாகிறான்; குறுகிய ஆயுளுடன் பிறக்கிறான்.
