नास्याहं न मदीयो<यं पापं कुर्याद् विमानित: । इति दद्याद् भयादेव दृढं मूढाय पण्डित:
bhīṣma uvāca | nāsyāhaṃ na madīyo 'yaṃ pāpaṃ kuryād vimānitaḥ | iti dadyād bhayād eva dṛḍhaṃ mūḍhāya paṇḍitaḥ |
பீஷ்மர் கூறினார்— ‘நான் அவனுடையவன் அல்ல; அவனும் என்னுடையவன் அல்ல. ஆயினும் நான் ஒன்றும் தராவிட்டால், அவன் அவமானமடைந்து என்மேல் பாவச் செயல் செய்யக்கூடும்’ என்ற அச்சத்தினாலேயே அறிவாளர் மூடனுக்குத் திடமாகத் தானம் அளிப்பான்; இது அச்சமூலமான தானம்.
