अल्पो5पि तादृशो दायो भवत्युत महाफल: । तृषिताय च ते दत्त हृदयेनानसूयता
alpo 'pi tādṛśo dāyo bhavaty uta mahāphalaḥ | tṛṣitāya ca te dattaṃ hṛdayenān asūyatā ||
வியாசர் கூறினார்—“இவ்வாறு விதிப்படி அளிக்கப்படும் சிறிய தானம்கூட மிகப் பெரிய பலனைத் தரும். நீ பொறாமையற்ற உள்ளத்துடன் தாகமுற்ற விருந்தினருக்கு அன்னமும் நீரும் அளித்தாய்; ஆகவே அந்தச் சிறு தானமே அளவற்ற புண்ணியமாகிறது.”
