वैशम्पायन उवाच
Though primarily a roster, the verse contributes to the Mahābhārata’s ethical frame by showing how many capable individuals align themselves with a faction; the epic repeatedly implies that personal valor and noble qualities do not by themselves guarantee dharmic outcomes—choices of allegiance and counsel matter.
Vaiśampāyana continues an enumeration of prominent warriors/figures associated with the Kuru side, naming several individuals in a catalog style that prepares the listener for the breadth of participants in the unfolding conflict.
