सा नियुक्ता पितुर्गेहे ब्राह्मणातिथिपूजने । उग्र॑ पर्यचरद् घोरें ब्राह्मणं संशितव्रतम्
sā niyuktā pitur gehe brāhmaṇātithipūjane | ugraṁ paryacarad ghore brāhmaṇaṁ saṁśitavratam ||
வைசம்பாயனன் கூறினான்— தந்தையின் வீட்டில் இருந்தபோது, பிராமணர்களையும் விருந்தினர்களையும் பூஜித்து உபசரிக்கும் பொறுப்பு ப்ருதாவுக்கு அளிக்கப்பட்டது. ஒருமுறை அவள் கடும் விரதநிஷ்டையுடைய, உக்கிரமும் பயங்கரமும் கொண்ட ஒரு பிராமண மகரிஷியைப் பணிவுடன் சேவித்தாள்.
