King Duḥṣanta’s Entry into the Forest Hunt
गौतमान्मिथुनं जज्ञे शरस्तम्बाच्छरद्वत: | अश्वत्थाम्नश्न॒ जननी कृपश्चैव महाबल:
Gautamān mithunaṃ jajñe śarastambāc charadvataḥ | aśvatthāmnaś ca jananī kṛpī caiva mahābalāḥ kṛpaś caiva ||
கௌதம குலத்துச் சரத்வதரின் வீரியம் நாணல்-கூட்டத்தின் மீது விழுந்து இரண்டாகப் பிரிந்தது; அதிலிருந்து ஒரு பெண்ணும் ஒரு ஆணும் பிறந்தனர். பெண்ணுக்கு க்ருபீ என்று பெயர்—பின்னர் அவள் அஸ்வத்தாமாவின் தாயானாள்; ஆண் மகாபலன் க்ருபன் எனப் புகழ்பெற்றான்.
