Vaiśampāyana uvāca—rājoparicaro nāma dharmanityo mahīpatiḥ | babhūva mṛgayāṃ gantuṃ sadā kila dhṛtavrataḥ ||
வைசம்பாயனர் கூறினார்—ஜனமேஜயா! உபரிசரன் எனப் பெயர்பெற்ற ஒரு மன்னன் இருந்தான்; அவன் எப்போதும் தர்மத்தில் நிலைத்தவன். ஆயினும், மிருகயா (வேட்டை) செல்லுதல் அவனுடைய உறுதியான வழக்கமாக இருந்தது என்று சொல்லப்படுகிறது.
