नातश्षतुर्थ प्रसवमापत्स्वपि वदन्त्युत । अतः: परं स्वैरिणी स्थाद्‌ बन्धकी पञ्चमे भवेत्‌

Vaiśampāyana uvāca | nātaś caturtha-prasavam āpatsu api vadanty uta | ataḥ paraṁ svairiṇī syād bandhakī pañcame bhavet ||

குந்தி கூறினாள்—“ஆரியபுத்திரா! ஆபத்துக் காலத்திலும் சாஸ்திரங்கள் மூன்றை மீறி நான்காம் பிள்ளை பெறுதலை அனுமதிப்பதில்லை. ஆகவே அந்த அளவைத் தாண்டி புதல்வரை நாடும் பெண் ‘ஸ்வைரிணி’ எனக் கருதப்படுவாள்; ஐந்தாம் பிள்ளை பிறந்தால் அவள் ‘பந்தகீ’—குலத்திற்கு அவப்பெயர் தருபவள்—என்று மதிக்கப்படுவாள்.”
