उक्त भवत्या यच्छेयस्तन्महां रोचते भृशम् । वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--महर्षि व्यासका नाम लेते ही भीष्मजी हाथ जोड़कर बोले--“माताजी! जो मनुष्य धर्म
uktaṁ bhavatyā yac chreyas tan mahān roc̣ate bhṛśam |
வைசம்பாயனர் கூறினார்—“நீங்கள் கூறிய நலமார்க்கம் (ஶ்ரேயஸ்) எனக்கு மிகுந்த விருப்பமளிக்கிறது.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse affirms that guidance aligned with śreyas—what is truly beneficial and ethically sound—is worthy of strong approval; it highlights the value of discerning counsel that leads toward the higher good.
The narrator Vaiśampāyana briefly interjects to register strong approval of a woman’s statement about what is best (śreyas), marking it as highly pleasing and thus endorsing the ethical direction of the preceding counsel.
