वैशम्पायन उवाच एवमुक्ता तदा गड़ा राजानमिदमतब्रवीत् | भर्तरें जाह्नवी देवी शान्तनुं पुरुषर्षभ
Vaiśampāyana uvāca—evam uktā tadā Gaṅgā rājānam idam abravīt | bhartāraṃ Jāhnavī devī Śāntanuṃ puruṣarṣabha ||
வைசம்பாயனர் கூறினார்—மனிதர்களில் சிறந்தவனே! இவ்வாறு கேட்கப்பட்டபோது, அந்நேரம் ஜாஹ்னவீ தேவியான கங்கை தன் கணவர் அரசன் சாந்தனுவிடம் இவ்வாறு உரைத்தாள்।
