हरिं गुरुं ह्यनुसृत्यैव सत्यं गतिं स्वकीयां तेन जानीहि मूढ / दग्ध्वा दुष्टां बुद्धिमेवं च मूढ सुबुद्धिरूपं मा भजस्वैव नित्यम्
hariṃ guruṃ hyanusṛtyaiva satyaṃ gatiṃ svakīyāṃ tena jānīhi mūḍha / dagdhvā duṣṭāṃ buddhimevaṃ ca mūḍha subuddhirūpaṃ mā bhajasvaiva nityam
ஏ மூடனே! ஹரியையும் சத்திய குருவையும் மட்டுமே பின்பற்றி, உன் உண்மையான சொந்த கதியை அறிந்து கொள். இந்த தீய, விகாரமான புத்தியைச் சுட்டெரித்து, ஏ மூடனே, ‘நல்ல புத்தி’ என்ற வேடத்தில் மீண்டும் மீண்டும் அதையே பற்றாதே.

This verse states that true direction (gati) is known by aligning with Vishnu and a genuine Guru; without that guidance, one remains deluded about one’s real end and spiritual course.
It emphasizes inner qualification: the soul’s ‘destination’ is clarified by truth-centered guidance and by destroying corrupt understanding, rather than by self-deception or superficial claims of wisdom.
Seek authentic spiritual instruction, cultivate devotion to Vishnu, and regularly examine beliefs for self-deception—replacing harmful mental patterns with truthful, disciplined understanding.
